Eryri (Snowdonia): A Paradise for Hikers, and Campers

Eryri or Snowdonia National Park is a hiker's paradise, with stunning mountain scenery, challenging trails, and breathtaking views. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or just starting out, there's a trail for everyone in Eryri.
And after a long day of hiking, there's no better way to relax than by camping under the stars. Snowdonia is home to a variety of campsites, from basic campsites with few amenities to luxury campsites with all the bells and whistles.
But Snowdonia isn't just a great place for hiking and camping. It's also great for foodie's, with a wealth of local ingredients and traditional dishes. From fresh seafood to succulent lamb and tender beef, there's something for everyone to enjoy in this beautiful region.

Here are some more reasons to visit Snowdonia:
The Mountains are never far from the sea. The North Wales coast is just a short drive away and it's home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK. Check out our local beach at Dinas Dinlle and the iconic Trefor stacks cliff walk which is a great place to see seabirds, seals and if you are lucky the occasional pod of dolphins!
Snowdonia is also home to a number of historic castles and other attractions, such as the stunning medieval Caernarfon Castle which is only 20 minutes
Go paddle boarding, kayaking or wild swimming in the magnificent glacially formed lake of Llyn Padarn. Take a stroll around the lake, ride the Llanberis lake railway or visit the fascinating National Slate museum at the far end of the lake.
Bryn Ifan Camping’s location
Bryn Ifan Camping is a great base for exploring Snowdonia National Park (Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri) as we are only 25 minutes drive from the base of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). We're ideally located between the National Park and the coast. You can see stunning views of the nearest beaches and the Eryri (Snowdonia) mountain range from our meadow.
Easy access to hiking trails
There are a number of hiking trails that start near the campsite. The small mountain, Blwch mawr which you can see in the photos behind the site is situated close by and a hike to the top give you incredible 360 degree views of the mountains and coast.
A short drive will give you access the start of a number of popular hiking trails, including the Snowdon Horseshoe and the Tryfan and the Glyderau.
Guided tours in Snowdonia
If you aren't confident setting out on your own, you might want to consider joining a guided tour - and many are available for hiking trails in Snowdonia. You can find guided tours of Snowdonia's hiking trails through local tourist information centres or online booking platforms.
Guided tours can be a great option for beginner hikers, as they can provide you with peace of mind and help you to learn more about the area. However, guided tours can also be more expensive than hiking on your own.
If you are considering a guided tour, be sure to do some research to find a reputable company that offers tours that are appropriate for your fitness level and interests.

Tourist attractions
Bryn Ifan is located near a number of popular tourist attractions, including Snowdon Mountain Railway, The Ffestiniog railway at Caernarfon and Porthmadog, Portmeirion, and Harlech Castle.
Close to amenities
We are located in a rural setting, Bryn Ifan Camping is halfway between the two thriving coastal towns of Porthmadog and Caernarfon where you can find shops, restaurants, and other amenities. The local town of Pen-y-Groes has a Co-op supermarket, a post office and chemist.
Cycling
Bryn Ifan is also a great base for cycling and the Lôn Eifion cycle route, a scenic, 12.5 mile cycle path with excellent hard surface all the way from Caernarfon to Bryncir, is close by.
Beaches
Bryn Ifan is just a short drive from the coast. There are a number of beautiful beaches in the area, including Dinas Dinlle, Trefor, Criccieth and Black Rock Sands.

Bryn Ifan - Bryn meaning "Hill" and Ifan is one of the many Welsh forms of the given name "John".
Bryn Ifan Camping
Bryn Ifan Camping is a small, family-friendly campsite located just outside the village of Caernarfon. The campsite offers stunning views of Snowdonia and the Welsh coast.
